If you currently teach a WI course section, or if you are planning to teach a new course that currently doesnʻt have any WI sections or a course that has an existing WI designation taught by another faculty member, please use this link to the WI application/renewal form.
Keep in mind that currently at Kapi‘olani Community College, the WI focus area designation is given to individual faculty members who apply to offer the section as WI, so approval is at the faculty level, not at the course level. Approval is good for 5 years. Ideally, WI review and renewal is part of the 5 year course review process. So even though WI approval is at the instructor level, when a course is going through its 5-year review, the department should determine if there are any WI sections, who teaches them, and when approval or renewal was last submitted.
While we accept applications/renewals throughout the school year, the deadline for approving spring 2024 applications or renewals is Friday, September 8.
Contact the current WI Board facilitator, Shawn Ford (sford@hawaii.edu), if you have questions about applying for a new WI focus area designation or renewing an existing WI designation.
