Subject: Increased traffic expected due to Maui Invitational, other lower campus events

Starting Monday, November 20, the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa will host several events on lower campus, including the Maui Invitational (November 20–22), which is expected to draw thousands of spectators to the campus throughout the day and night.

There will be no cancellations of scheduled classes and events; however, we encourage our campus community to be vigilant and prepare for an increase in traffic.

November 20–22, Maui Invitational at Stan Sheriff Center (Allstate Maui Invitational Bracket)

  • The Zone 20 parking structure will be open ONLY FOR UH STUDENTS, FACULTY AND STAFF. Individuals must show their UH ID or proof of UH affiliation as they approach the parking kiosk.
  • Shuttles will drop off and pick up Maui Invitational fans on Dole Street in the vicinity of the law school and law library. Individuals should expect heavy foot traffic in the area and should consider using the Zone 20 stairs or the ʻEwa elevator across from the music department to the extent feasible.

November 21, Men’s Basketball

  • The UH men’s basketball team will host Northern Arizona at the Stan Sheriff Center on Tuesday, November 21 at 8:30 p.m. after the Maui Invitational games.
  • Fans attending the UH game will be allowed to park in the Zone 20 parking structure beginning at 6:30 p.m.

November 24, Women’s Basketball and HHSAA Football Championship

  • The Stan Sheriff Center will host a pair of women’s basketball games at noon and 2:30 p.m. (UH plays at 2:30 p.m.), and the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex will host the HHSAA Open Division State Championship football game at 7 p.m.
  • This is a non-instructional day. For those who need to be on campus, normal parking rules will be in effect. However, expect an increase in traffic, especially before and after the scheduled events.

November 25, UH Football and Women’s Basketball

  • The Stan Sheriff Center will host a pair of women’s basketball games at noon and 2:30 p.m. (UH plays at 2:30 p.m.), and the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex will host the UH senior night football game vs. Colorado State at 6 p.m.
  • If you are not attending the football or basketball games, it is recommended that you avoid campus starting in the early afternoon as heavier-than-normal traffic in the area is expected, and on campus parking will be limited.
  • Zone 20 parking will not be available for the women’s basketball games. Parking will only be available on upper campus.
  • The Zone 20 parking structure on lower campus will be closed on Saturday, November 25, at 8 a.m. to prepare for the UH football game. Only those with a football parking pass will be allowed to enter the parking structure that day.

November 26, Women’s Basketball

  • The Stan Sheriff Center will host a pair of women’s basketball games at 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. UH plays Washington in the second game.
