NCORE constitutes the leading and most comprehensive national forum on issues of race and ethnicity in higher education. The conference focuses on the complex task of creating and sustaining comprehensive institutional change. This change work is designed to improve racial and ethnic relations and their intersections with other issues and groups on campus. The conference speakers and sessions offer strategies for expanding educational access and success for diverse, traditionally underrepresented populations. NCORE is designed to provide a significant forum for discussion, critical dialogue, and exchange of information as institutions search for effective strategies to enhance access, social development, education, positive communication, and cross-cultural understanding in culturally diverse settings.

With that said, we are excited about the 36th National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in Higher Education (NCORE) which will be held in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, from May 28 through June 1, 2024! We are contacting Oahu-based institutions to garner interest in our volunteer program where student volunteers are invited to assist for one 4-hour shift in return for having their $495 registration fee waived. Involvement in this program would grant students access to all NCORE 2024 attendee opportunities.

Undergraduate and graduate student volunteers are needed each year to help make NCORE a success. Volunteering is a great way for students to attend the conference at a discounted rate, creating a valuable learning and networking opportunity with professionals from academia, state and national institutes, associations, agencies, commissions, foundations, and community-based organizations.

NCORE staff would like to welcome students at University of Hawai’i at Mānoa to join as volunteers for this dynamic conference. Student volunteers are asked to support the following key areas of the conference:

  • Session Monitoring
  • Assistance During Keynotes
  • Accessibility Efforts
  • Traffic Flow and Directional Assistance
  • Informational Assistance
