Event Details
Date: Friday, November 1st
Time: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Location: Makahiapo (Great Lawn)
What is Makahiki?
Makahiki is an annual celebration of Lono, symbolizing the rains and abundance vital to life in Hawaiʻi. During this time, we honor water as life’s foundation, promoting growth and balance.
The festival kicks off at 8:00 AM with a traditional ceremony featuring the Akua Loa (Image of Lono). We encourage faculty and staff to get involved and volunteer for the games. This festival is for our entire campus community, especially our haumāna!
Please reach out to the Kūloaʻa Project Team at kuloaa@hawaii.edu or (808) 734-9347.
