Please join us in celebrating Professor Sheila Kitamura’s retirement at a Potluck Luncheon. Sheila retired on January 1, 2024.
Sheila Kitamura has led the Dental Assisting Program at KCC for 23 years and Chaired the Allied Health Programs Department for 14 years. She has supported and guided thousands of Allied Health Students, Faculty, and Staff through multiple accreditations, curriculum changes, and retirements. She has undoubtedly touched so many lives. When asked what she loved most about KCC, Sheila says it is the beautiful friendships that she has made over the years. She feels blessed to have met so many wonderful people. She completed her education here in Honolulu, obtaining a Master’s in Education in Curriculum Studies from the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa. Sheila is loved within the Health Sciences Department and her Dental Assisting students. What she loved most about her students is watching their lives transform through their hard work and determination. In recognition of her unwavering dedication and work, Sheila received the Dean of Health Academic Programs Award in 2021. Sheila has a colorful, fun interest in Korean and Japanese cultures, she loves BTS, delicious foods, and ballroom dancing.
