Non-academic course sites are sites not associated with a CRN. Examples of non-academic course sites include, but are not limited to:
- Professional development training sites for faculty and staff
- Sites used for student placement exams
- Sites used for a student orientation
- LMS sites used by a departmental account
After working closely with colleagues across the college during Lamakū implementation, input and insights have been used to inform a new streamlined version of the Kapiʻolani Course Framework…just in time for Summer prep! The original 3 versions are still available and may be useful as you continue to develop new 16-week courses in Lamakū.
However, the new streamlined framework has been pared down to include only the instructor resources, Welcome & Orientation modules, and a single module with a single page that can be replicated as you see fit. This may be ideal for courses that are fewer than 16 weeks (we’re lookin’ at you, Summer sesh), for non-credit and/or non-instructional courses, or simply for those who don’t want to delete unnecessary placeholders for things like quizzes, assignments, and discussions. Here’s a look at how you can utilize it…
You can access the new streamlined version of the framework in the Setup module (on the Structure page) of the Course Framework site. If you haven’t yet, be sure to sign up for access to the Kapiʻolani Course Framework. Anyone developing a summer course from scratch (or from migrated content from Laulima) is encouraged to utilize the Kapiʻolani Lamakū Course Framework.
