The Summer Symposium
Professional Development in Internationalization
July 16-24 2023, Ireland
Internationalize – The three-step solution
We believe that internationalization should be straightforward, affordable, and accessible for all students; and it should be simple for faculty to deliver – and our professional development programs help you to achieve these outcomes.
Empower faculty with a professional development site visit
Great ideas may spring from your international office or your administration meetings, but internationalization will not be a sustainable, integrated practice unless you have faculty on board, supported, empowered, incentivized and enthusiastic. Our Professional Development & Site Visit program to Ireland is now legendary in its effectiveness in inspiring and empowering faculty to confidently internationalize their courses and build in study abroad components. Our ‘Shared Narratives’ approach has a particular resonance with Hawai’i – our two islands share parallels in our experience of colonization, cultural suppression, reviving our indigenous culture and customs, and challenging the status quo with our own storytelling and experiences.
Online cultural competency accessible to everyone
We have online cultural competency programs that can be embedded into existing courses, offered as new cultural competency courses, incorporated into global study courses, offered as community and continuing education courses, and the great news is that they are academically excellent, engaging, student-friendly programs that students and instructors absolutely love. In one click, students have access to fascinating interactive classes about aspects of Ireland and the shared narratives between our two cultures.
Aloha Ireland!
We welcome you to Ireland to learn more about our parallels in history, culture, customs and tradition, language, literature, sports and the Arts, and how we can use those parallels to globalize our classrooms for the benefit of your students.
