Join Dr. Miku with the CERENE Sustainability Lab and the Kapi’olani Sustainability Club aka “Treeeeeeeehoooooo!” as they support the Waiakeakua Forest Restoration effort every second Sunday!  Join in for this meaningful biocultural forest restoration project in Mānoa Valley guided by Uncle Bruce Keaulani, CEO and Kahu of Living Life Source Foundation.

The community planting day perpetuates more than 10 years of efforts to replant native and polynesian-introduced trees within an ecosystem dominated by invasive Albizia trees, to re-establish a perennial cultural landscape as well as to establish a seed bank of Koa, ʻŌhiʻa, Kukui, ’Ulu and other trees that can be used for future native reforestation efforts for the Mānoa community. CERENE and student leaders at Kap’CC have been active with this project for over 3 years! Come see the forest growing and learn what it is all about. Through our practices of mālama and kilo (alongside contemporary ecological knowledge), we have learned so much.
