Congratulations on Winning 4 Pacific Region Phi Theta Kappa Awards!
The Five-Star Plan engages chapters in Phi Theta Kappa programs and celebrates their accomplishments. It outlines 10 essentials to creating an engaged chapter and organizes them into themed categories, or “stars”. Every year, the Alpha Kappa Psi chapter aims to achieve the highest honor–five-star status. For the first time in more than 8 years, the chapter made five-star status. Congratulations!
Five-star chapters must complete a College Project, designed to help chapters develop or strengthen a supportive working relationship with the college administration. They must also complete an Honors in Action Project, which is action-based research centered around a topic. The 2023-2024 topic was “The Art and Science of Play.”
In addition to being a five-star chapter, Alpha Kappa Psi received four Pacific regional awards.
- Best College Project: Better Bathrooms: Advocating for Free Menstrual Products in College Bathrooms
- Best Honors in Action Project, Theme 6: Nostalgia at Play
- Best Overall Honors in Action Project: Let’s Go Play: Families, Video Games, and Nostalgia
- Most Distinguished Pacific Region Chapter
These awards highlight the hard work, commitment, and outstanding leadership of Nastassja Dinulong, the chapter president. Congratulations to Heather Van Vogt, Chiharu Hanagata, Sae Park, and all members who restocked the menstrual dispensers weekly over the past seven years. Lastly, thanks go to everyone who submitted testimony for House Bill 281 and Senate Concurrent Resolution 27, which passed the full legislature in April 2023.
Congratulations Alpha Kappa Psi! Keep up the Amazing Work!
