On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, we will observe Lā Kūʻokoʻa, Hawaiian Independence Day, a day of profound cultural and historical significance. On November 28, 1843, the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi was officially recognized as an independent nation by the British and French governments, marking a pivotal moment in Hawaiian sovereignty and history.

Lā Kūʻokoʻa presents an important opportunity for reflection, learning, and celebration of Hawaiian resilience. In collaboration with the Kūloaʻa Project, Kapoʻoloku, Kūlia ma Kapiʻolani, and ʻAha Kalāualani we invite you to join us in celebrating this day through a series of events and activities hosted on campus.
