April is Native Hawaiian Plant Month and TBSE is honored to host Rick Barboza, co-
founder and co-owner of Hui Kū Maoli Ola, the recognized experts on Native Hawaiian
plants. Born and raised in Waimānalo, Rick is a graduate of Kamehameha Schools and
obtained is BA in Zoology from UH Mānoa, with a focus on Hawai‘i’s natural history
and the conservation of native biota. Through their nursery/landscaping company
and their educational non-profit Papahana Kuaola, he and his business partner
continue their 24-year legacy of transforming land back into ‘āina.
