Logos for the First Year Experience Ho'okele Peer Mentors, Pahihi Program for Returning Adults, Lunalilo Scholars, Kapo'oloku, and Kulia Ma Kapi'olani Programs

Aloha, Kapi’olani faculty, staff and administrators!

Have you come across a student who you think would be a good supporter of other students? The programs in the Kīkaha O Lae’ahi Center are recruiting Peer Mentors now, to begin working in summer 2025! These include:

  • Lunalilo Scholars Program
  • First Year Experience (FYE) Program including Pasifika, and Pohukaina Food Pantry
  • Kapoʻoloku Program for Native Hawaiian Student Success
  • Kūlia ma Kapiʻolani Native Hawaiian CTE Program
  • Pāhihi Program for Returning Adults

Students may submit an application to more than one program at go.hawaii.edu/S38

There are three steps in the application process.

Step 1.  To learn more about the roles of the different peer mentors, we will be holding two information sessions in person at the Kīkaha ʻo Laeʻahi Center in ʻIliahi 231 and one on Zoom. Attendance is mandatory to apply. Students only need to attend one information session. 

  • March 4 from 12:00pm – 1:30pm (‘Iliahi 231) or
  • March 12 from 2:00pm – 3:30pm (‘Iliahi 231) or
  • March 24 from 4:00pm – 5:30pm via zoom. (link is in the application form)

Step 2.  After attending one of these sessions, the student is welcome to submit the written application. There is one common application for all positions, followed by additional questions for specific programs. The application is due no later than March 31st, 2025 at 11:59PM.

Step 3.  Additionally, a group interview activity is REQUIRED as part of the 2025-2026 peer mentor application process. This will take place on Friday, April 17, 2025 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Kīkaha o Laeʻahi, ʻIliahi 231. Attendance is mandatory for the application to be considered.
