A graduate of Kamehameha Schools, Sean Browne pursued his education at the University of Redlands and the University of Hawai‘i. As a sculptor and educator at Kapi‘olani Community College (1986-2009), he has shared his experiences and insights with students, shaping the next generation of artists. Under a Fulbright Fellowship, he studied stone carving in both Italy and Japan with renowned master sculptor Isamu Noguchi.

Sean has created numerous significant public artworks across Hawai‘i, including the statue of King Kalākaua at the gateway to Waikīkī, as well as works at the Wailuku Judiciary Complex, Keāhole-Kona Airport, and Kāne‘ohe State Hospital. Rooted in his Native Hawaiian heritage, Sean draws deep inspiration from his cultural identity, which remains at the heart of his artistic and educational endeavors.

Lectures are supported by the generosity of Ms. Edith Leiby, and free and open to the public.
