Uncle Wally Ito has been a spearfisherman since the age of eight and witnessed the decline of the nearshore fishery over a 50-year period. At the age of 51, Wally returned to school to finish a BS in Marine Biology. Today, he is passionate about limu, its important role in the nearshore marine environment, and its role in Hawaiian culture (Bio from the Mauka to Makai Expo).

Hosted by the UHM Center for Oral History,  Kuaʻāīna Ulu ʻAumo, Mālama Maunalua, and the KapCC STEM Program.
