Lamaku Important Resources. As we continue preparing successful teaching and learning experiences in LamakÅ« for the summer and fall, we want to highlight some important resources…

The A‘o at Kapi‘olani Website

The A‘o at Kapi‘olani site contains information and resources that help situate and support your instructional planning, development, facilitation, and continuous improvement endeavors. You should absolutely visit the site if you haven’t yet or if it’s been awhile as you prep for summer courses and beyond. Just a few highlights:

The Planning page contains helpful resources and templates, like the Kapi‘olani Syllabus Template, student learning outcomes (SLO) guidance, a course planner, and information on Regular Substantive Interaction (RSI).

The Development page contains a wealth of LamakÅ«-related resources, including links to important dates and forms, tutorials, professional development, and information about the Kapi‘olani Course Framework. Faculty are strongly encouraged to utilize the Course Framework as a foundation for LamakÅ« sites – there are 3 template options available and embedded video tutorials to help you set up and customize your LamakÅ« course sites efficiently and effectively.

Be sure to bookmark and visit A‘o at Kapi‘olani for critical instructional design and development resources and support information.

Prepping Lamakū for Summer (and beyond)

We’ve received some inquiries regarding Summer (and Fall) LamakÅ« preparations. Here is the pertinent information:

The Discover Lamakū timeline is a helpful reference for key Lamakū-related dates and processes each semester.

Just like with Laulima, every semester, new (empty) sites will be automatically generated once a class is officially approved and listed in Class Availability with a CRN. Once this happens, faculty can do one or a combination of the following:

  • Migrate: You can submit a migration request to have content migrated from Laulima into a reference site – you can then copy content from the reference site into a sandbox or your live site (Requests for migration of content for Summer 2025 sites, including instructional and non-instructional, are open now and due to be submitted no later than June 30).*
  • Copy: If you want to utilize content that is already in LamakÅ« (e.g., copy content from your fall, spring, sandbox, or reference site(s) into another LamakÅ« site), this is something you do without a need for a request to ITS (just like with Laulima). Here are step-by-step text/image instructions and a video tutorial to demo the process.*
  • Build: you can also create new content from scratch manually within the site.*
*Faculty are strongly encouraged to use the Course Framework to develop new class sites, even if migrating content from Laulima, as the migration process doesn’t always yield a very nice looking or well-organized site.
