Spring 2025 Lamakū Site Closing Date; Incompletes

Spring 2025 Lamakū course sites will automatically close to students on June 6th. Faculty will continue to have access to their sites after they close. If you have one or more student(s) with an incomplete with a need for continued access to the site after the closing date of June 6, please have the instructor of record send the following information to help@hawaii.edu to request the LMS Admin team to enroll the student(s) in an incomplete role into the inactive course:
  • CRN
  • student name
  • student UH username
Student access will not exceed the deadline for the instructor to submit an incomplete grade. However, once you submit the final grade to the registrar to rectify an incomplete grade, you may request that the student role be changed back to “student” so they no longer have access to the inactive course.

In general, live course site will remain active two weeks after the end of finals week for traditional 16-week UH semester terms (21 days after the last day of instruction for the term), and Live POT course site remain active 21 days after the last class end date. For additional information, please see the Lamakū FAQs and contact the UH ITS Help Desk with any related questions.

Streamlined Lamakū Course Framework

After working closely with colleagues across the college during Lamakū implementation, input and insights have been used to inform a new streamlined version of the Kapiʻolani Course Framework…just in time for Summer prep! The original 3 versions are still available and may be useful as you continue to develop new 16-week courses in Lamakū.

However, the new streamlined framework has been pared down to include only the instructor resources, Welcome & Orientation modules, and a single module with a single page that can be replicated as you see fit. This may be ideal for courses that are fewer than 16 weeks (we’re lookin’ at you, Summer sesh), for non-credit and/or non-instructional courses, or simply for those who don’t want to delete unnecessary placeholders for things like quizzes, assignments, and discussions. Here’s a look at how you can utilize it…

You can access the new streamlined version of the framework in the Setup module (on the Structure page) of the Course Framework site. If you haven’t yet, be sure to sign up for access to the Kapiʻolani Course Framework. Anyone developing a summer course from scratch (or from migrated content from Laulima) is encouraged to utilize the Kapiʻolani Lamakū Course Framework.
