 Today, our KapCC students will be sharing the following (sessions are an hour unless marked):

  • 🤖How robots are taking over KapCC? 🌌 What are supermassive black holes and why should you care? Jenny Brown explains all @ 10 am and @ 3 pm (respectively)!
  • 🐟Where are the fish stocks in Waikīkī and how does overfishing impact overall reef health? Hear how a student is monitoring fish populations in Waikīkī in order to determine which species are thriving @ 11:00 am.
  • 🕊️ Did you know that KapCC is home to over 52 species of native plants? Learn about how you can help these student-led efforts to conserve and educate our communities from 12 pm to 2 pm!
  • 🐚 Can you imagine what 32,982 lbs of algae look like? That is how much invasive algaeKapCC BIO 124L students pulled over the past 10 years from Maunalua Bay @ 2 pm!
  • 💡 How can the same wireless energy magic in your iPhone help power electricity in our cities @ 12 pm?
  • 🏫 How can we teach future elementary school teachers to contextualize math @ 11 am? How do we support positive well-being in our Native Hawaiian students @ 12 pm?

All through SURF:

  • 🌪️What can we do to help prevent or mitigate damage caused by coastal erosion, earthquakes, and tornados? Presentations from an Ocean, Earth, Sciences, & Technology class, OEST 101
  • 🌄What do electric circuits and ahupuaʻa have to do with each other?
