It’s finally here! SURF is online today, so feel free to bring your lunch and drop in at any time to check out a session. You can find the program on our website, but here’s a quick recap:

  • 🏆 Helene Watson won Honorable Mention at the 2024 Hawaiʻi Conservation Conference and is the only CC student awarded at the professional conference. Check out her presentation on ʻāina-based learning in elementary classrooms at 2 pm.
  • 💬 Hear a student’s journey as she works on healing addiction in Pacific communities through talaloa or a traditional practice of open
dialogue and culturally-sensitive storytelling at 12 pm.
  • 🎶 Learn about traditional and modern music all over the world in presentations from MUS 107. We have one presentation from 10:00 am to 10:30 am, as well as a Padlet with other presentation videos. Check it out and leave a comment or question so they get the full experience!
  • Future elementary teachers spent the semester at Kūhio Elementary learning how to apply math education in fun, hands-on ways from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.
  • ☀️ Engineering students are helping Hawaiʻi meet its sustainability goals by designing solar panels for local schools and other buildings. Learn about the different factors that go into these designs and what’s feasible for our state throughout the day.
