Pop in for 15 minutes to check out a student’s presentation and see what research opportunities are available at KapCC. SURF is a casual space for faculty, staff, and students to share ideas and learn from each other. Come for free food and a chance for prizes courtesy of the Board of Student Publications (BOSP). We are also featuring a TON of free clothes!

🥳 Students will win prizes for attending and filling out a short form such as Sony headphones, Bluetooth speakers, water bottles, and more! More submissions = Higher chance for prizes!

Day 2 Highlights: (See all our flyers)

  • Play some ICS 211 games based on traditional Hawaiian fishing practices at 2 pm.
  • Student Congress fought hard to reduce summer tuition fees for UH students. Learn about their journey from 10 am to 12 pm.
  • KÅ«lia Indigenous Scholars students are building rain barrels and cultivating mamaki at KapCC, fighting fast fashion, creating watercolor palettes from natural dyes, and more at 2 pm.
  • Students in English and philosophy tackle hot topics ranging from addiction, cost of living (12 pm), and the morality of abortion (10 am).
  • Learn about KapCC’s ongoing efforts to remove invasive species in Wailupe Valley,  factors that affect native plant growth, and local mushroom populations from 1 pm to 3 pm. 
  • Learn about how our resident native bird, the Manu-o-KÅ«, nests on our campus. 9 am to 11 am
  • We’ve also got projects on autoimmune disorders, the connection between blinking and mental fatigue, AI, gravity interactions, and more!
