English Course Partnership with Chaminade

We are happy to announce a Kapiʻolani Community College partnership for Spring 2021, sponsored by Title III’s Ka Hiki Mai Scholars Program, with Chaminade University.
Beau Ewan will be co-teaching his ENG 273N Creative Nonfiction (WI and DL) with Dr. Allison Paintner, an English Professor from Chaminade University, exploring the theme of Racial Justice.
This class will bring together 10 students from Kapiʻolani Community College and 10 students from Chaminade University for a cross-campus learning experience. Please share this course with your students!

KSCM is back online…sort of.

KSCM is back online, so proposers can review their courses and programs to determine if any changes are needed. Proposers will be able to start a draft but NOT submit a proposal yet. We are still testing out the User Interface (UI) for anomalies and will have this process completed soon. We will update when we have completed testing.

Curriculum Drop-in Zoom Session 8/20 @ 2 PM

The Curriculum Committee Co-chairs will be hosting a drop-in session in Zoom on Thursday, August 20th, from 2 PM – 4 PM to assist any proposer submitting to KSCM this semester.

The deadline for course and program proposals to reach Department Chairs is Friday, September 11th. All dept. approved proposals are due to the Curriculum Committee on Friday, September 18th.

FYI, KSCM is currently experiencing an update, so access is down. We apologize and expect to have the update completed and running soon. In the meantime, please review the Pre-Proposal Checklist to ensure you have a successful proposal and the updated workflow (see below).

Study Abroad in Ireland Meeting Today!

This Spring 2018 class (GEOG 298) and study abroad experience will focus on the historical, cultural and biological connections between Ireland and Hawai’i.

A video conference sharing updates and the application process is scheduled for today (10/24) in Naio 207 from 4 – 5 PM.

This is the last meeting before the November 3rd priority application deadline. Today’s vid/com will be joining Kapi’olani CC participants with Hawaii CC participants from the Hilo and Palamanui campuses.

Study in Ireland: Cultural Ecology of Ireland

Do you appreciate the many forms of culture? Are you fascinated with the diversity and biological connections in ecology? Answer “yes” to both of these? Then a trip to Ireland to experience Cultural Ecology is for you!

Come to any of the upcoming video conferences to learn more about this study abroad experience! I’m assisting Pamela Scheffler from HawCC spread the word and support participants in this learning experience. (I attended in 2016 and highly recommend it!) This Spring 2018 class (GEOG 298) and study abroad experience will focus on the historical, cultural and biological connections between Ireland and Hawai’i.
